On Sunday 8th March, Paviors U15 Girls took 12 players to a Nottingham Casuals Pitch up and Play event. We joined with 3 Girls from Newark to make up a full team. The weather started of on our side for the first 2 matches then turned wet for the third. The first match was a good performance considering some players we’re in their first match ever. Combining with the Newark players they didn’t take long to find their feet but unfortunately lost to a more experienced opposition.

The second match was totally different; it was an end to end battle with neither side taking advantage until the last 2 minutes where Paviors piled on the pressure in the opponents 22 with a barrage of attacks resulting in Olivia Noble crashing through multiple tackles and over the line to score her first try. This well worked attack from the Team secured Paviors U15 Girls first win of the season! Everyone was in uproar for the girls as the final whistle went.

The third match had the added dimension of a downpour, making the ball like a bar of soap!. More battles were had, the opposition were strong. Paviors girls put in some amazing tackles. Millie Wilson on her debut made an excellent break and carried the ball some distance before finally being brought down! Olivia Bailey also made a spectacular break from the deep inside the opposition’s 22, running three quarters of the pitch before being caught. Late into the match Natasha Green was not to be beaten, putting in a brilliant tackle then sprinting the width of the pitch and doing the same again, she was not letting them through!

Well done girls you should be so proud of your achievements, every single one of you. Your Team Spirit, determination, courage and obvious enjoyment are a joy to behold.

Next stop Oakham on 29th March for a fixture with the Girls from Oakham, Melton Mowbray and Hinckley RFC’s…….we can’t wait!
